Agrotourism can be so many things. Good, most of them. But beyond its wellness can be also an exercise of remembrance and gratitude. Which is the case of the very old Quinta do Chocalhinho, a piece of land acquired in 1947 by Luís Mendonça Freitas, an old railwayman and fisherman, who
developed it in a remarkable way as long as he lived.
Today, the Quinta, thoroughly remodelled in total respect for its ground by his grandson, namesake of his ancestor, is ready and willing to receive guests exactly in the same way as his late owner used to do with his
friends: warmly and affectionately.
Quinta do Chocalhinho, which could also be named Remembrance Farm or Great House Farm, guarded by the memory still very alive of grandpa LMF, is today the space of five generations, that want to show to its visitors the family’s way of life as well some of the secrets of the
surrounding region. Obviously having as its witnesses innumerable birds, wild boars, savage rabbits, trees and flowers,along its 173 acres. Not to mention the glorious mornings and starry nights pregnant with moonlight and silence.
